-Unions and the people who support them are “up in arms” today as some workers head back to their jobs at the Cargill plant in High River after it was closed down for two weeks following an outbreak of Covid-19. An Alberta Health task force has been working with plant officials to make it safe, including the sanitization of the building, barriers in washrooms, temperature checks before anyone’s allowed in and a ban on carpooling among employees. A bus has since been retrofitted with barriers between people.

-More things in the province are going to resume today, even though Covid-19 is still with us. Some golf courses opened on Saturday and some will open today, although the rain may literally put a damper on that in some regions.
Scheduled, non-urgent surgeries will resume today and you can start going to the dentist for urgent care. Physiotherapists will also be open and routine eye exams will resume. All will be done under approved guidelines.

-As of yesterday, Alberta has more than 57-hundred cases of Covid-19, while more than 27-hundred people have recovered.
The “ABTraceTogether” app is now available for those want to use it. Alberta Health officials say it will enhance current manual contact tracing to help reduce the spread of the virus. They say it means they can contact people more quickly if they’re at risk. It’s voluntary, doesn’t track your physical location and doesn’t use GPS. Officials say all the data is only on the user’s phone and is deleted after 21 days. More than 86-thousand people have signed up so far.

-One job that’s been in high demand these days because of Covid 19 is that of security guard. They’ve been doing everything, including temperature checks before people are allowed in stores and controlling the number of people allowed in stores. And in Ontario, people who do those jobs are finally well paid. The problem is that since government offices are closed, those who would like to be guards can’t take their tests. So the move is to now get that done online.
