RCMP RELEASE:
On April 13, 2024, in the early morning hours, Cold Lake RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress at the Staples in the Tri-City area. The suspects appeared to have disabled the power to the building and cut a hole in the wall to gain access. The suspects left the Staples in a truck when police arrived on scene and were not located at the time. Approximately $80,000.00 in stolen computers, tablets, mobile devices, and other electronics were taken.
Cold Lake General Investigations Section (GIS) engaged in an investigation into this break and enter when a vehicle, similar to the one seen at the Staples during the break and enter, was observed with several individuals moving computer boxes. Between April 16, 2024, and April 18, 2024, police executed search warrants on two vehicles and a residence in the City of Cold Lake. During the search, police located most of the stolen property from the Staples break and enter on April 13, 2024. Police have charged two people in relation to this break and enter.
Chance Dunne (39), a resident of Cold Lake, and Logan Murrell (28), a resident of Edmonton, have been charged with the following offences:
- Breaking and Enter to Staples, Cold Lake
- Possession of Property obtained by crime over $5000.00.
Both Dunne and Murrell are currently remanded into custody and will appear in the Cold Lake Court of Justice on July 24, 2024.
